West Coast Swing is a couple dance and a proud descendant of Lindy Hop swing dance.

West Coast Swing is an excellent choice for today's dancer, allowing freedom of

expression in the dance as well as being extremely versatile in the types of music that

it can be danced to.The dance also appeals to many age groups, perhaps because of its

versatility in music genres and tempos. Recently, there has been a significant rise in

interest by those in their 20s and 30s. The ability to make the dance sexy and the

improvisational side of the dance are very attractive to the younger crowd.

More experienced dancers are enticed by the techniques and the language of the

dance, as well as the flexibility which the dance allows, giving limitless options

when building on the basic moves.
